RMS Olympic was a British ocean liner, built by the White Star Line. It was launched in 1910 and was the first of the three Olympic-class ocean liners, the other two being the infamous Titanic and Britannic.
After World War I, Olympic was converted into a troopship and used by the British government until 1920. It then returned to commercial service until 1935, when it was retired and sold for scrap.
The scrapping of the RMS Olympic took place in 1935 at the Jarrow Ship Breaking Company in the northeast of England. It was a massive undertaking, taking four months to dismantle the ship. The steel from the ship was recycled and used to build other structures, including the Tyne Bridge and the cranes at the Swan Hunter shipyard.
Today, there are only a few artifacts left from the RMS Olympic, including furniture, signage, and pieces of the ship's hull.
